La conmemoración de la Revolución de mayo de 1810 nos invita a reflexionar sobre nuestro pasado, sobre la lucha y la unión hacia esa idea de nación libre y soberana que hace más de doscientos años nos interpela a ser parte activa de una sociedad más justa.
Por eso, nos propusimos honrar estos valores de UNIÓN Y PAZ, nuestro eje institucional para este año, a partir de un proyecto solidario y colectivo. En el acto por el 25 de mayo presentamos la propuesta, y padres y chicos se reunieron para concretar nuestro objetivo: realizaron y donaron mantas que fueron destinadas a la Casa de Abrigo Ramón T. Gayone que trabaja en conjunto con el Hogar de Convivencia Francisco Saverio Scarpati de la ciudad de Mar del Plata.
Las Casas de Abrigo son lugares destinados a brindar un ámbito alternativo y transitorio a niños, niñas y adolescentes cuando se encuentren amenazados o vulnerados en sus derechos y garantías. La Casa de Abrigo Ramón T. Gayone, específicamente, aloja a niñas de 0 a 18 años y niños de 0 a 4 años de edad. Allí se les brinda alimentación, vestido, y atención médica, además de contención para el sostenimiento de su escolaridad.
Desde el Colegio Tierra del Sur estamos comprometidos con el fomento de estas acciones que nos interpelan e interrogan acerca de los sentidos de lo colectivo, de los lazos que nos vinculan, fortaleciendo sobre raíces sólidas los ejes fundamentales que nos identifican:
- Inspirar una educación basada en la unión y la paz, los derechos humanos y la democracia.
- Proteger y respetar los derechos humanos de todas las personas y luchar contra toda forma de discriminación.
- Vivir la tolerancia y la solidaridad.

Solidarity project for union and peace
The anniversary of the Revolution of May 1810 is an invitation to reflect on our past, on the struggle and sense of unity towards the idea of a free and sovereign nation, which for more than two hundred years has challenged us to be an active part of a better and fairer society.
Therefore, we decided to honor these values of UNION AND PEACE, our institutional motto for this year, by working on a solidarity and collective project. During the May 25th celebration we presented the proposal, and parents and children got together to achieve our goal: they made and donated blankets that were destined to Casa de Abrigo Ramón T. Gayone, which works together with Francisco Saverio Scarpati Shelter Home in Mar del Plata.
Shelter homes are places intended to provide an alternative and transitory environment for children and teenagers when their rights and guarantees are threatened or violated. Casa de Abrigo Ramón T. Gayone, specifically, houses girls from 0 to 18 years old and boys from 0 to 4 years old. There, they are provided with food, clothing and medical care, as well as support to sustain their schooling.
At Southland School we are committed to the promotion of these actions that challenge and question us about the meaning of community and the ties that bind us together, strengthening on solid roots the fundamental pillars that identify us:
- Inspire an education based on union and peace, human rights and democracy.
- Protect and respect the human rights of all people and fight against all forms of discrimination.
- Live in tolerance and solidarity.
