Uno de los objetivos principales del Colegio Tierra del Sur es que los niños sean los protagonistas de su propio proceso de aprendizaje. Para que esto suceda, buscamos que ellos tomen todas las decisiones dentro del juego, partiendo de sus propios intereses. El resultado es un fuerte compromiso con la tarea específica y el aprendizaje en general.
La imaginación se nutre de lo cotidiano, de la exploración y observación del medio, de su identificación con otro, así como también del hacer con otros. El Proyecto Institucional Territorios, actividad que repetimos todos los años, propone un ámbito común de trabajo en el que participan todas las salas del jardín. Loris Malaguzzi, maestro y pedagogo italiano, fue el iniciador e inspirador de este tipo de propuestas. Concebía al niño como un ser extraordinario, complejo, individual, que existe a través de sus relaciones. Un co-constructor desde el comienzo de su vida, de conocimiento, de cultura y de su propia identidad. Un niño “rico en potencial, fuerte, poderoso y competente”.
Siguiendo estos lineamientos, la propuesta de Territorios consiste en volver a mirar estos espacios y abrirlos para transitarlos, habitarlos de otra manera y resignificarlos a partir de las acciones. Así, entre todos creamos un espacio estético, de comunicación, de creación, de imaginación, de encuentro y de mucha acción.
Durante septiembre, octubre y noviembre de 2022 trabajamos con los siguientes escenarios lúdicos: Dinosaurios, Luz Negra, Construcción, Campamento, Cuevas de manos, Artesanías, Museo Caras y Caretas, Laberinto del terror y Dramatización. Para crearlos utilizamos distintos materiales como telas, papel crepe, piñas, arena, pinocha, cajas, veladores, tempera flúo, cotillón, cartón, madera, entre otros.
Como cierre de la actividad, el 23 de noviembre, en el marco del Proyecto Institucional y dentro de la semana de las artes, se realizó una muestra itinerante, una recorrida por Territorios en el Nivel Inicial. Las docentes de cada sala acompañaron a los chicos por su recorrido a través de los diferentes espacios, mediando sólo cuando fue necesario. Otro de los objetivos de la iniciativa es que los niños construyan su propio aprendizaje libre de la intervención de los adultos.

Territories Project: a place to meet and create
One of our main goals at Southland School is that children become protagonists of their own learning process. In order for this to happen, we encourage them to make all the decisions, based on their own interests. The result is a strong commitment to specific tasks and the learning process in general.
Imagination is nourished by everyday life, by the exploration and observation of the environment, by their identification with others, as well as by doing with others. The Territories Institutional Project, an activity that we do every year, creates a common work environment in which all the kindergarten classrooms participate. Loris Malaguzzi, Italian teacher and pedagogue, was the pioneer and inspirer of this type of exercise. He considered the child as an extraordinary, complex, individual being, who exists through his relationships. A co-constructor from the beginning of his life, of knowledge, culture and his own identity. A child «rich in potential, strong, powerful and competent».
Following these guidelines, the idea behind Territories is to look back at these spaces and open them in order to walk through them, inhabit them in a different way and re-signify them through actions. Thus, together we built an aesthetic space of communication, creation, imagination, encounter and a lot of action.
During September, October and November 2022 we worked with the following scenarios: Dinosaurs, Black Light, Construction, Camping, Caves of Hands, Crafts, Caras y Caretas Museum, Labyrinth of Terror, and Dramatization. To create them we used different materials such as fabrics, crepe paper, pine cones, sand, boxes, candles, fluorescent paint, cotillion, cardboard, wood, among others.
To sum it up, on November 23, within the framework of the Institutional Project and on the Week of the Arts, a traveling exhibition was held, a tour around these Territories. The teachers of each classroom accompanied the children on their expedition through the different spaces, mediating only when necessary.
